Breaking the silence over here to bring you a recipe for one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Reid and I went out to a local Italian restaurant for his birthday last month and we shared an affogato afterwards with a brownie on top. Seriously…so simple but so delicious.
If you’ve never had an affogato it is a scoop of gelato or ice cream with a hot shot of espresso poured over top. Now add a thick layer of chocolate ganache on the bottom and a fudgy brownie on top and you’ve hit gold. If you’ve been looking for a dessert for Valentine’s Day, give this a try (cheesy heart-shaped brownies not required).
Brownie Sundae Affogato
- 1/4 cup cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- your favorite brownies
- vanilla ice cream
- freshly brewed espresso
To make the ganache, heat the milk until steaming. Add the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
To assemble, pour a layer of ganache into the bottom of your dish. Place in the refrigerator for a few minutes to allow to set. Add a scoop or two of ice cream and place a brownie on top. Pour an espresso shot (one ounce) over the top and serve immediately.
